The un-Lean Product Backlog.

The un-Lean Product Backlog.
The textbook Product Backlog (5 min)

A brief overview of a basic Product Backlog composed of only with strong User Stories tightly linked to clear business objectives and estimated by business value and story points.

What’s missing? (5 min)

Creating and shipping software in large organizations involves tasks and deliverables that go beyond straightforward testing, coding and releasing. So what needs to be done to get your product in front of the user? What are we forgetting?

The Definition of DONE (10 min)

What does DONE mean? Can it be DONE within a User Story? If not, what do we do with it? We’ll explore a broader way of defining DONE in order to identify all the work needed to complete the project.

Polluting the Product Backlog (15 min)

GDD : Gui Driven Design

Most think Automated GUI Testing is a bad idea. Those that have actually tried it KNOW it is; GUI testing can be slow, unpredictable and difficult to maintain. However, with a good understanding of the GUI testing problem and some clever software we can mitigate these issues. Once we have GUI tests that are fast, predictable, and easy to maintain we can start GUI Driven Design (GDD). GDD considers GUI tests as executable specs. These specs are transparent in the sense that ANYONE (dev, QA, managers, etc...) can understand, run, and verify them. Because GDD uses images, it facilitates the right level of conversation between developers and users allowing the agile team to optimize the develop-test feedback loop.

Session Proposals for Calgary Agile Tour 2010

While this field says "Description of the conference" I'm assuming it is asking for a description of the session since I'm in the Add a Session function. I can do a session on many different topics with several possible durations for each topic. I have 90 minute tutorials ready to go on the topics "xUnit Test Patterns and Smells", "Concept to Backlog - What Happens Before Iteration Zero" and "Agile Test Automation Strategy for the Non-Technical". The xUnit session can be done in as little as 45 minutes by focussing on one part of the content.
